A gift through the post

Elizabeth was hoping for a letter from Charlie in the morning post. Her hope was quickly displaced by fury when out of an envelope fell two white feathers. Inside a note read: ‘TWO COWARDS IN THE FAMILY – YOU MUST BE A PROUD MOTHER AND WIFE’.  She burned the letter and feathers but wondered how many people felt the same about her family.
