William Thomson Black Watch
DUNDEE MAN WOUNDED IN CHEEK
AND STRUCK BY PIECE OF SHRAPNEL.
Piper William Thomson, of the 1st Battalion Black Watch, has sent a letter to his mother, who resides at 45 Cowgate, Dundee, in which he states that he has been wounded on the cheek and leg.
Piper Thomson writes :—Just a line to let you know that I am lying in Fazakerley Hospital, six miles from Liverpool. I was struck by a bullet, which penetrated my nose and wounded me in the cheek ; while a piece of shrapnel also wounded me on the leg. I am progressing favourable.
Piper Thomson, who was a reservist, served with his regiment in India for 6½ years, and has been home for only five months.
Mrs Thomson has also a son, Sydney, serving with the Royal Garrison Artillery, but he has not yet been in the firing line.
