William Squire M.M. 103735 Royal Field Artillery
DUNDEE MAN’S DOUBLE HONOUR.
To the list of Dundonians who have won honours on the battlefield there falls to be added the name of Driver William Squire, R.F.A., who has been awarded the Military Medal and the French Croix de Guerre for the following daring acts:__ While under heavy shell fire, which shattered the communication wires, he went out and repaired them, thus restoring communication with the main bodies.
Driver Squire, who is 30 years of age, and whose home is at 116 Rosebank Street, enlisted in January, 1916. In civil life he was employed as a carter with Messrs Wordie & Co., contractors.

DUNDEE SOLDIER’S DOUBLE HONOUR.
An interesting ceremony took place on Saturday at the Corporation Electricity Works Dudhope, Crescent Road, when Mr W. Squire, Rosebank Street, Dundee, an employee of the department, late driver, Royal Field Artillery, was presented with the Military Medal for bravery in the field, by Major Harry Richardson, O.B.E., M.C. The act for which the Military Medal was awarded also won for him the French Croix de Guerre, early in May 1918, when during the heavy fighting at Kemmel Hill, where the German advance was checked he acted as a battery runner, and was the only runner left at the finish of the action.
