More about William Simpson
William Simpson Black Watch
DUNDEE MAN WOUNDED IN FRANCE
IS CARED FOR BY GOOD SAMARITAN.
Mrs Wm Simpson, 62 Lilybank Road, Dundee, has received news that her husband has been wounded, but that he has now recovered, and is again at his post in the fighting line.
The following interesting note was sent to Mrs Simpson, evidently by a Frenchman who claims to be a great friend of Britain. He says :___”I made this photo (which appears above) the day your husband was starting for the front. He has been slightly wounded, and remained a week in a convalescent camp. When he started he was quite healthy. I hope this war will be the end of Germany and the beginning of the happiness of the allied nations.” The letter is signed “Raymond Broust, a great friend of Britain.”
Private Simpson, who is 29 years of age, was a reservist of the Black Watch. Before being called up he was employed at the Caledon Shipbuilding Yard, Dundee.
