More about William High
William High
Lance-Corporal William High, only son of ex-Bailie High, 13 Windsor Street, has been badly gassed. The first intimation was contained in a letter from a Dundee nurse. Sister Bruce, who, writing to the soldier’s mother, states that Lance-Corporal High passed through the casualty clearing station to which she is attached on September 30. He is now lying in a Canadian hospital in France. The gas affected his chest and eyes, and he was blind for about a week, but is now progressing favourably.
Lance-Corporal High had been at the front for only a month after having been discharged from hospital recovering from wounds sustained in the Somme offensive on March 25.
