William was the brother of Gunner David McNaughton Edmiston, 32647, 23rd Mountain Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, who died 13.07.1920, Sgt John Grant Edmiston, 1036186, 30th Company, Canadian Forestry Corps, and Gunner James Williamson Edmiston, 14404722, Royal Garrison Artillery.

William is buried in Prospect Cemetery, St Clair Ave, Toronto. A special veterans plot was set aside in this cemetery in 1917 to be used for returned soldiers. William attested on 3 separate occasions, the first in Toronto 23/03/1915, the second time also in Toronto 15/05/1916 and the final time 05/03/1917 for the “Forestry Draft Toronto”. He was discharged from the army May 1st, 1918 due to defective vision and flat feet. He died in Spadina Hospital 06/08/1920.
