William H. Griffen 200241 Black Watch
DUNDEE SOLDIER GAINS MILITARY MEDAL.
Sergeant W. H. Griffen, Black Watch, son of Mrs Griffen 18 Hunter Street, has gained the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Sergeant Griffen, who is 27 years of age, enlisted at the outbreak of war, and has seen much, severe fighting during 3½ years’ service in France. He has been three times wounded, the last occasion being during the heavy fighting, when fortunately, he only received slight injuries. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a mill-worker. Sergeant Griffen’s father and three brothers are also on active service.
