Sergeant Clark was amongst the fifty who formed the first draft of the Vancouver Artillery. He came to England in July 1915 and crossed to France in January 1916 with the 22nd Battery (6th Howitzer Brigade). He remained with his Battery through all the fighting till March 1918, when, during the German Advance, his gun was struck by a shell and he and two of his gunners were killed.
