More about Robert Swinton

Robert Swinton was born in Dundee and lived at 4 Alexandra Road, Crosby, Liverpool. For some time in 1914 he had previously been the First Engineer onboard the Liverpool registered steam cargo ship Escalona which was completed in 1913. The ship was on passage from London to New Orleans via Middlesbrough. The 1914 Crew List for the Escalona states in the discharge columns that, in position 23.40 North, 91.41 West, in the Gulf of Mexico, he committed suicide by drowning.
