A TINY LITTLE BULLET WOUND.
PRIVATE R.G. FORBES’ LUCKY ESCAPE.
“A tiny little bullet wound” is how Pte R. G. Forbes describes his injury. Private Forbes is at present in hospital in Leeds, writes a cheery letter to his wife, who resides at 71 Wilkie’s Lane, Dundee. “You will like to know.” He says, “that I am very well in spite of a tiny little bullet wound. It only just grazed the skin of my face, and I will be well in a few days. Was it not lucky? Because the bullet that hit me had already killed a man by passing through his chest. When I come home, I will show you the bit of bullet that hit me. It is very small.”
Private Forbes had previous military experience, and joined the “Fourth” shortly before the holidays. Other two brothers, Lance-Corporal Forbes, Wilkie’s Lane, and Private Thomas Forbes, Blackness Road, are also members of the Dundee Battalion, while a nephew, Private Alexander Forbes, is in the Black Watch.
