Patrick enlisted with the 216th Battalion which was classed as a “Bantam” Battalion, created for men who were below the minimum height for a regular Battalion of a minimum 5 foot 3 inches. Patrick’s stated height was only 5 foot and 3 quarters of an inch. He died at Spadina Military Hospital of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
