Malcolm Maciver was the son Mr Malcolm and Mrs Catherine Finlayson Maciver of 28 Aignish, Isle of Lewis and was a Teacher in Dundee before he joined the Royal Naval Reserve in Stornoway in January 1916. He was serving onboard the destroyer HMS Vigorous at the end of the war but was drowned whilst on leave when HMS Iolaire ran onto rocks entering Stornoway in the dark. His body was recovered and he is buried in the Eye Cemetery, Aignish Burial Ground Lewis. Malcolm Maciver is named on the Iolaire Memorial near Stornoway.
