John died of wounds sustained at Regina Trench. He had five brothers who served in the Great War, three with the Canadian Army and two with the British Army. They were, Pte Easson Dewar Lindsay 229348, 44th Battalion Canadian Infantry who was killed in action 11 May 1917, Pte Frederick Lindsay 229357, 44th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, Pte William Lindsay 922409, 200th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, Pte Charles Lindsay, 89337, 100th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps, and Driver Frank Lindsay, 78th Company, Machine Gun Corps.
