James Shelvie Montgomery 7366 1st Black Watch
DUNDEE SOLDIER DIES IN GERMANY.
NINETEEN YEARS IN THE ARMY.
Another name has to be added to the list of Dundee soldiers who have died while prisoners of war in Germany.
The intimation has been received by Mrs Shelvie, who resides at 27 Kinloch Street, Dundee, that her son, Lance-Corporal James Shelvie Montgomery, attached to the 1st Black Watch, died between 19th and 21st June, while a prisoner of war in Germany. He had been missing since the 31st October.
Lance-Corporal Montgomery had a long military experience, having in all served nineteen years. He was a member of the 3rd Black Watch for some time, and then transferred to the 2nd Battalion, and at the outbreak of war he was drafted into the 1st Black Watch. He went through the South African war.
Deceased, who was 36 years of age, leaves a widow and one child. He resided at 27 Kinloch Street. His brother John Shelvie, a member of the 5th Black Watch, is at present at home recuperating, having been wounded in the heavy fighting at Neuve Chapelle.
