More about John Lynn Petrie

For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour.

John served in 8th Bn Black Watch with 9th (Scottish) Division and it is known that he arrived in France on 10 May 1915.

He took part in the Battle of Loos with his Bn surviving the first 2 days of that battle but gave his life on 27 Sept 1915.  John has no known grave but is commemorated on the Loos Memorial at Dud Corner Cemetery on the very battlefield where he met his fate

He left a wife, Mary, who was resident at 7 Richmond Court, Edinburgh.
