More about John Gillies
John was the husband of the late Marjorie Gillies. He received a compassionate discharge and was sent home from France due to his pregnant wife contracting Tuberculosis and having 6 children to support. Marjorie sadly passed away 1 week before his discharge leaving the 6 children behind, his discharge becoming final December 15th 1916. John contracted Influenza 04/11/1918 and died at St Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg on 7th December, 1918. His funeral took place at Brookside Cemetery, Military Section on November 11th, 1918 at 11.00 am. His 6 children then passed into the care of Winnipeg Childrens Home.
