For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour. His 2 brothers both served during the Great War, they were Pte Angus Urquhart Macdonald, 267017, 5th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, who died of wounds 18.08.1918 and Cpl Francis Macdonald, 472327, Canadian Army Service Corps, who returned home safely.

A severe blow has befallen Mr and Mrs Macdonald, 8 Park Avenue, Dundee, one of their sons, Pte. Angus Urquhart Macdonald, Canadians, having died from wounds received in action, while another son, Private James Campbell Macdonald, Cameron Highlanders, has been posted wounded and missing. Private James Campbell Macdonald enlisted on attaining the age of 18 in the Lovat Scouts, but was transferred to the Camerons. He went to France in March this year. Before joining up he was employed as a postman in Dundee.
