James Ross MM Machine Gun Section Royal Naval Division
One of the “Collingwoods.”
Mr and Mrs Alexander Ross, 161 Ann Street, Dundee, have received intimation that their son, P.O. James Ross, MM., Machine Gun Section, R.N.D., was wounded in the right hand and shoulder on 28th Sept. Petty Officer Ross, who enlisted on 27th Sept, 1914, went through the Gallipoli campaign, and was one of the few men left of the Collingwood Battalion, which was afterwards incorporated in the Howe Battalion. After the evacuation of the Peninsula he was drafted to France, where he gained the Military Medal. P.O. Ross was wounded on the fourth anniversary of his enlistment. Before the war he was an apprentice fitter with Charles Parker, Sons, & Co., Victoria Foundry, Clepington Road, and was a member of the 8th Dundee Company B.B.
