More about James Percy McLachlan

James P McLachlan is named on the Lochee Roll of Honour. He was the son of Mrs J McLachlan of 76 Thirlestane Road, Morningside, Edinburgh and later of Vellore, Craigmillar Park, Edinburgh. He joined the Royal Naval Reserve in Edinburgh in June 1916 and was drafted to HMS Fisgard, a collection of obsolete warships used to train Artificers. In July he was sent to Malta and was based at Fort St Angelo, HMS Egmont, in Grand Harbour. He returned to Portsmouth Naval Base in May 1917 and was accommodated onboard the old battleship HMS Redoubtable. James McLachlan died from tuberculous meningitis and is buried in the cemetery of the Royal Naval Hospital Haslar in Gosport, Hampshire.
