More about James Keir
James was the brother of Pte David Keir 622476, ‘C’ Company, 44th Battalion, Canadian Infantry.
For more information on James, visit, James Memorial also James Service Record
For reasons unknown James Keir is not included on the original Dundee City Roll of Honour.
James was wounded in action, 25 October 1916 when he received gun shots wounds to the head and chest during fighting at Corcellette. He was invalided back to Canada for further treatment for these wounds, being discharged from the Army, 18 June 1918 as being medically unfit for further service. Following his discharge he continued to receive further medical treatment but it would appear that he never fully recovered from these injuries, dying in St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg 4 January 1921. His cause of death was recorded as being due an Ulcer of the head.
