James Sr died as a result of heart failure at Booth Memorial Home, Toronto. He was the father of Pte James Mason Horne, 1015315, of the 72nd Battalion, Canadian Infantry. James Jr was discharged from the army when it was discovered that he was underage, being only 15 years old when he enlisted
