Although James served in the Royal Engineers with the British Army his name appears both on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial and Wigney’s C.E.F. Roll of Honour. He was the brother of Driver Robert Patterson, 404335, 208th Field Coy, R.E. and C.S.M. Thomas Patterson D.C.M & Bar, 71860, 27th Battalion Canadian Infantry, who was killed in action, 03.05.1917.
