For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour. He was the brother of Pte John Harris Burry, 304502, 3rd Training Depot, Canadian Army Medical Corps
James Burry 1850 Black Watch
MUIRHEAD OF LIFF LAD KILLED.
Mr David Burry, Muirhead of Liff, has received official notice that his third son, James, was killed in action on the 9th inst. Private James Burry, who was 24 years of age, joined the 2nd Battalion Black Watch about five years ago, and went to India fully three years ago. He arrived in France early in October, and had taken part in various engagements.
