More about James Allardyce
James Allardyce D.S.O. M.M. Second-Lieutenant London Regiment
DUNDEE OFFICER AWARDED D.S.O.
The Distinguished Service Order has been conferred on Second-Lieutenant James Allardyce, London Regiment, eldest son of Mr Charles Allardyce, surgical instrument maker, Nethergate, Dundee.
This is the second honour to be bestowed on the gallant officer. He was awarded the Military Medal in the early part of the war for saving the life of an officer. At that time he was a sergeant.
Lieutenant Allardyce is 22 years of age, and had been in the Civil Service in London for about four years prior to the war. He enlisted one month after the commencement of hostilities. He is particularly well known in Glamis district, where he spent all the years of his boyhood.
