DUNDEE GORDON KILLED IN ACTION.
Still another Dundee women is realising to the full how life and death walk hand in hand on the field of battle.
On the 26th October, Pte. Hugh McBain, of the Gordon Highlanders, wrote to his sister, Mrs McDonald, 11 Annfield Row, Dundee, that he was alive and well. Two days later he was killed in action, and he filled a soldier’s grave before the letter reached its destination.
Mrs McDonald has just received official intimation of her brother’s death. Private McBain was a reservist, and lived at 4 Temple Lane, Dundee. He was 32 years of age, and was in the employment of Messrs Forbes & Christie, calenderers, Victoria Road, as a packer. For six and a half years he was with his regiment in India.
