Henry W Allison of Mrs Ada Allison of 6 Clarence Row, Miletown, Sheerness. He is listed because his friend was Miss Maisie Whitelaw of 21 Dock Street, Dundee. Henry Allison joined the Royal Navy in 1912 and served onboard HMS Vulcan, the submarine depot ship in Dundee between 1913 and 1914.In April 1916 he was drafted to HMS Victorious, an old battleship converted to a Repair Ship, and based at Scapa Flow in the Orkney Islands. In November he was drafted to the destroyer HMS Strongbow. He is listed on the Chatham Naval Memorial in Kent. The Strongbow was sunk defending a merchant ship convoy on passage to Norway when it was attacked by two German cruisers. HMS Mary Rose, another destroyer, and nine merchant ships were also sunk in the battle.
