Henry Stewart   7129   King’s Own Scottish Borderers

DUNDEE BORDERER KILLED.

After eighteen years’ service as a soldier of the King, Corporal Henry Stewart, 20 Hilltown, Dundee, has fought his last fight.

A member of that splendid regiment, the King’s Own Scottish Borderers, Corporal Stewart, who was 36 years of age, was killed in action on 14th July.  Before being called up as a reservist when war broke out, he was in the service of Mr John Carnegie, contractor.

Corporal Stewart fought in the South African War, and was awarded two medals, with the clasps Johannesburg, Paardeberg, and Cape Colony.  The death of this gallant and well-tried soldier is mourned by Mrs Stewart and four children.
