More about George Sinclair
George Sinclair Gordon Highlanders
DUNDEE SOLDIER’S FINE SACRIFICE.
Private George Sinclair, Gordons, son of the late Mr George Sinclair, North of Scotland Bank, Dundee, has made a noble sacrifice by giving a pint and a half of his blood to save an unknown comrade’s life.
Private Sinclair had been wounded and lay in hospital for several weeks. The medical officer went round the wards asking for some-one to give his blood for a soldier who had been severely wounded and was dying for want of blood. Private Sinclair immediately volunteered, and his blood being medically tested and approved a pint and a half was transfused. The operation was successful, and the soldier’s life was saved.
Private Sinclair was later sent back to England to recuperate, and is now on a visit to his mother, who resides at 105 Magdalen Yard Road. Though still weak, he is making a good recovery. Private Sinclair is a former pupil of the Harris Academy.
