More about George Gannick Shepherd

For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour. He was the brother of Pte William Blair Shepherd, S/6309, 8th Battalion Black Watch, who was killed in action 27.09.1915.

George Shepherd   14619   Scots Guards

Private George Shepherd, Scots Guards, who has been killed in action, was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs James Shepherd, Station Cottage, Ardler.  He served his apprenticeship as a gardener with the late Mr G. M. Cox, Beechwood, Lochee, and was in the employment of the Earl of Camperdown at Camperdown House when he enlisted early in 1915.  He was about 24 years of age, and had been in France for twelve months.  A younger brother has also made the supreme sacrifice.
