Gavin was the brother of Sapper David T. McColl, 410061, 554th A.T. Company, Royal Engineers, who also served and is believed to have returned home safely.
Gavin T. McColl Gordon Highlanders
Intimation has been received by Mr Gavin T. M’Coll, 24 Charles Street, Dundee, that his youngest son, Private Gavin T. M’Coll, Gordon Highlanders, has been gassed, and is at present in a general hospital in France. Private M’Coll, who is 19 years of age, joining up in July, 1917, and has been in France since January of this year. Previous to joining the colours he was an apprentice iron turner in Wallace Foundry. His elder brother, Sapper David T. M’Coll, Royal Engineers, was mobilised at the outbreak of war, and has been at the front since September, 1915. He was wounded last year.
