Forbes E Marshall was the brother of Thomas G Marshall, 49 Nelson Street, Tradeston, Glasgow and he is connected to Dundee through his time onboard the Mars Training Ship. He joined the Royal Navy in March 1914 as a Boy Second Class. He then went to HMS Pembroke, the Naval Barracks in Chatham before being drafted to HMS Clan McNaughton, an Armed Merchant Cruiser in December. Forbes Marshall was lost with all of his shipmates when the Clan McNaughton was lost off North West Scotland in bad weather. The wreck has not been found. Forbes Marshall is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial in Kent.
