Edward Mansie Black Watch
AN UNDESIRABLE BIRTHDAY GREETING.
Private Edward Mansie, of the 4th Black Watch, whose home is at 28 Lorimer Street, had the misfortune to be wounded practically on the eve of his 21st birthday. He is now under treatment in hospital at Glasgow.
In a letter to his parents, written under the date of 16th May, Private Mansie says :― “Just a line to let you know I have been wounded in the right leg, but I am getting on the best. There is a big battle going on, and our lads are doing well. On Sunday 9th May, we went into action, and a shell got me in the right leg,”
Private Mansie has been connected with the Territorials for several years. The photograph reproduced shows him when he was a Post Office messenger, but latterly he had been engaged as a dyeworker.
