Duncan Fenwick Black Watch
Corporal Duncan Fenwick, Black Watch, is the first to fall of a family of a father and three sons who are serving King and Country. His father, Leading Stoker Andrew Fenwick, 56 Blackscroft, received intimation from an officer of his son’s death. In his letter the officer writes :- “I am very sorry to have to send you the sad news of your son’s death, as he was a splendid N.C.O. and soldier, and was well liked by all his comrades.”
Deceased, who was 26 years of age, was a porter at Tay Bridge Station. He was a member of a battalion of the Black Watch, and went to the front in February of last year. He has taken part in stiff fighting, and he was in his seventh engagement when he was killed. Leading Stoker Fenwick’s eldest son, Andrew, is also a leading stoker in the Admiralty service, while the youngest, William, is a private in the Black Watch.
