More about Francis Donlon
Francis Donlon was one of five children born to Francis and Catherine Donlon. Following Catherine death in 1902, Francis Donlon left the children to fend for themselves. The eldest, Helen, worked in a jute mill full time whilst the younger children looked after themselves are school. It was only when one of the children stole an apple and was chased by a policemen that it was discovered they children had been deserted. Their aunt, Helen Keegan, give care of them.

Francis Donlon died on the 18th August 1918. His brother, Michael, also fought and was killed early on in the war.
