More about David Lawrence McLaren
David L McLaren was born in Dundee and was a Mate in the Mercantile Marine. He was married to Mrs Emily Mitchell McLaren of 76 Stockland Street, Grangetown, Cardiff and later 41 Romilly Road West, Victoria Park, Canton, Cardiff. In 1915 he served as the Second Mate onboard the Hartside and gave his previous ship as the Repton. He was commissioned into the Royal Naval Reserve in September 1916 and appointed to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Ashtree. His ship was employed as a coal transport for the Grand Fleet in Scottish waters. David McLaren died from pleurisy and pneumonia at 30 Roseneath Terrace, Edinburgh. He is buried in the Cardiff (Cathay) Cemetery, Wales.
