More about Daniel McComish
Daniel McComish was born in Dundee and his parents were Mr Daniel and Mrs Catherine McComish. He was married to Mrs Elizabeth McComish (nee Kelly) and they lived at 29 Wall Street in Belfast. The Castlebar departed Glasgow on 12 March 1918 for Limerick with a cargo of wheat. The vessel was reported to have passed Fanad Head off Lough Swilly on 14 March and she was listed as missing in August 1918. This information comes from ‘Missing and untraced merchant vessels’ in Lloyd’s and the cause of her loss is not certain. Daniel McComish is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial in London and also in Commonwealth War Grave Commission records.
