DIES FROM WOUNDS.
DECEASED WELL KNOWN IN THE MEARNS.
Private Charles Smith, 8th Black Watch, a former Dundee tramway employee has died in France from wounds. Deceased was also well known in the Mearns. He was a son-in-law of Mr J. S. Smith, gas manager, Laurencekirk, and for a number of years resided at Fordoun, where he was in the employment of the Caledonian Railway.
On becoming a car driver under the Dundee Corporation his home was at 179a Rosefield Place, Blackness Road. He enlisted in the Black Watch in May and was drafted into the 8th Battalion. He leaves a widow and three of a family.
