Charles 3 brothers all served during the Great War, Drummer Andrew Nicoll Egerton, 128, 2nd Battalion, Black Watch was killed in action, 09.05.1915, Pte James Egerton, S/21858, 1st/4th Battalion Gordon Highlanders, was killed in action 19.07.1918. His third brother, Drummer William George Egerton, 9677 served with the 1st Battalion, Black Watch was wounded then was held as a prisoner of war in Germany but returned home safely.
