Arthur was only 15 years old when he enlisted and when this was discovered was transferred to the 17th Reserve Battalion. He suffered an knee injury caused by a mine explosion during field Training and was hospitalized for 4 months for treatment, he was also diagnosed with Epilptiform Convulsions which was caused by the explosion and was discharged from army as being medically unfit. He then re enlisted where it was found that he was underaged when he initially enlisted and was discharged for a second time.
He went on to served during the second world war with the 4th Field Ambulance Canadian Army Medical Corps, two brothers Albert & Francis also served in WW2 with the 11th Med Btty, while his brother David served with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
His 2 brothers, CSM David Angus Scott, 750 and Pte William Angus Scott, 475202, both served with the 8th Battalion Canadian Infantry during WW1 and Alexander was injured while training with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons and duringĀ summer training at Camp Sewell in June 1913 was injured and medically discharged.
