More about James Arnott
James Robert Arnott was born at the George and Dragon public house in Jericho near Bury, Lancashire, and he moved to Waterfoot, Lancashire, when he married. He is remembered on the family tomb in Bircle Church graveyard near Bury. James is also remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial.
Note: The date of death on the family tomb is 1 August, but the 31 July 1917 is believed to be the correct date. Arnott’s age is not consistently reported across different war records.
