DUNDEE WIDOWER KILLED IN ACTION.
SURVIVED BY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN.
Two Dundee bairns have been left in a pathetic plight. Their mother died eight months ago, and now their father has been killed in action.
Private Alexander Wishart the father of the children, was of the 7th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Territorials), and he met his death in the course of his battalion’s famous charge on 25th April last. The Argylls had to advance in attack formation over 1000 yards open ground swept by a sheet of lead from German rifles and machine guns, and as the line was enfiladed the battalion suffered considerable loss in officers and men killed and wounded. One of them was Private Wishart.
The deceased private went to Kelty to live six years ago, and during all that time he was connected with the 7th Argylls. When in Dundee he saw seven years with the Black Watch Volunteers. He was a miner, and lived at Hawthorn Cottage, Station Road, Kelty. His address in Dundee was 35 Benvie Road. He was 28 years of age. His orphan children now reside with his mother at 25 Watson’s Lane, Dundee.
