Alexander has no known grave but is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial. He was the brother of Pte William Powrie, 53379, 18th Battalion Canadian Infantry.

MISSING DUNDEE SOUTH AFRICAN
NOW REPORTED KILLED.
Sergt. Alexander Powrie, 1st Batt., South African Infantry, who was reported wounded and missing on 23d March, 1918, is now officially reported to have been killed on the 22nd of that month. Deceased joined up three years ago, and served for two years in the East African campaign, before being sent to France. Sergt. Powrie, who was the second son of the late Mr James Powrie and of Mrs Powrie, 82 Peddie Street, served in the Boer War. Prior to his enlistment he was a mason in Rhodesia. Three of his brothers are serving—two in France and one in England.
