DUNDEE GUNNER WINS MILITARY MEDAL.
Gunner Alexander Leighton, R.G.A., has been awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous bravery under heavy shell fire. The medallist carried a wounded officer of the R.F.A. out of range of enemy shell fire to the nearest dressing station, but the unfortunate officer later succumbed to his wounds.
Gunner Leighton had seen garrison duty abroad for two years, and had been in France since October, 1917. Prior to enlistment he was in the employment of John Sharp & Sons, Limited, jute spinners and manufacturers, Dundee, and resided with Mrs Adams, 80 Blackness Road, Dundee.
