3/1 Lowland Field Ambulance, RAMC, a Glasgow raised Territorial Force Field Ambulance.
Enlisted at Yorkhill, Glasgow on 26 April 1915 at age 34 yrs. previous employment Postman. Born Monifeith, Forfarshire. A married man resident at 38 James Street Helensburgh, Dumbartonshire. NOK, Mrs Joan Milne, wife of same address
After training in UK he deployed to Mediterranean Expeditionary Force and served in the Sanitary Section, later being attached to 1/1 South Midlands Mountain Field Ambulance, RAMC. He was hospitalised a number of times in the Middle East with various illnesses including Influenza, and Renal Colic amongst others. His final illness was Malaria complicated by Dysentery to which he succumbed in 17 General Hospital, RAMC, Alexandria on 6 Nov 1918.
