More about Ronald Walter Falconer
Ronald W Falconer was the son of Mr Daniel and Mrs Henrietta Falconer (nee Smart) of 18 Brechin Road, Arbroath. He was an Apprentice Printer before training as a Wireless Operator in Dundee and joining the Marconi Service in 1915. The SS Ladoga was sunk by torpedo fired by the German submarine UB-73 approximately 15 miles South East of the South Arklow light vessel in the Irish Sea. She was en route from Bilbao to Maryport with a cargo of ore. Twenty one of the crew were lost in the sinking and their names are on the Tower Hill Memorial in London. Ronald Falconer is also commemorated in the Arbroath and District Roll of Honour, Page 208.
