YOUNG DUNDEE CANADIAN WOUNDED
AFTER MONTHS OF FIGHTING WITH THE PRINCESS PATS.
A communication from the Canadian Record Office in London has been received by Mrs W. B. Smith 164 Lochee Road, Dundee, stating that her eldest son, Private W. Smith, of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry is now in hospital suffering from a gunshot wound in the thigh.
Private Smith, who is twenty-two years of age, joined the famous Canadian regiment over a year ago, and crossed to this country with the second Canadian contingent. For about nine months he has been on active service, and has undergone a considerable amount of hard fighting.
The young soldier was in Montreal when, as he wrote home at the time, the call to do his “bit” for the Empire became as strong and as insistent that it could no longer be disregarded.
