More about Robert Goodman

Robert Goodman   Royal Garrison Artillery

FRENCH HONOUR FOR DUNDEE SOLDIER.

Bombardier Robert Goodman, Royal Garrison Artillery, who resided with his grandmother, Mrs Munroe, at 6 Forfar Road, Dundee, has been awarded the French Crois de Guerre.  He is a native of Dundee, and had resided with Mrs Munroe since he was quite young, his mother having emigrated to South Africa.

The decoration has been received by Mrs Munroe from her grandson’s Commanding Officer. Bombardier Goodman was employed by Messrs David M’Lardy & Co., King Street, before being transferred to their Aberdeen branch.  While in the Granite City he enlisted in the R.G.A. about four years ago, and proceeded to France with his regiment in the early stages of the war.  In a letter to his grandmother Bombardier Goodman says he expects to be home soon, when he will explain how he won the coveted honour.
