28.10.14. Discharged “Medically Unfit”. Defective vision: both eyes zero with test tubes.
27.10.14. Hurt Certificate granted “Was injured on October 8th 1914 in preparing to leave the trenches at Antwerp, by having a rifle fired close to his face by a messmate. It caused him to be temporarily blind for two days. His vision now is very bad in both eyes. He is unable to read 60/60 and is almost blind at night.
