William Baxter Gray Lieutenant 4th Black Watch
4TH BLACK WATCH OFFICER WOUNDED.
LIEUTENANT W. BAXTER GRAY, OF BROUGHTY FERRY.
Lieutenant W. Baxter Gray, who is the first officer of the 4th Black Watch to be placed on the casualty list, was wounded on the 10th inst.
The official communication received by Mrs Baxter Gray, the mother of the wounded officer, who resides at Springbank, Hill Street, Broughty Ferry, contains the information that her son received his wound on the 10th, but there is no word as to his condition. Prior to the receipt of the War Office telegram, however, Mrs Gray had a letter from Lieut. Gray himself, which had been written in hospital. He made no reference to the nature of his injuries, but requested his relatives not worry about him.
The wounded lieutenant, who is a son of the late Provost Baxter Gray, has been connected with the 4th Battalion for three years, and is a keen young officer. He is a lawyer by profession.
