Robert was the father of Pte William Cox, 3/2980, 8th Battalion Black Watch, who was killed in action, 06.12.1916 and Pte David Cox, 20240, 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, who was killed in action, 12.10.1916.

A WIFE’S GREAT GRIEF.
Mrs Cox, 20 Hilltown, Dundee, has had a double cross to bear. Together with her husband’s misfortune in sustaining a gun-shot wound in the back, she has lost two of her six children since his departure for the front five months ago.
Private Robert Cox, who is 35 years of age and a member of the 5th Black Watch, joined at the outbreak of war, before which he was employed as an oilcake-worker with J. & J. Cunningham, Ltd.
